Monday Afternoon Coffee Date

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I found these past few days to be such a nice break. I did no work, though it was hard to resist at times (any other work-from-homers face this struggle?), saw old friends, family, and watched way too many Hallmark Christmas movies. It's been a hot minute (i.e. months) since I did a coffee date post so let's catch up!

This picture takes me back to this moment and makes me feel safe and loved.

If we were having coffee (tea for me, duh) I'd tell you that I am writing some pieces for My Life Out Of Office and really enjoying it! You may remember that I did a series on app dates from hell for them about a year ago (back then they were called Out of Office New York). It's so nice to have a regular writing schedule and I really love the topics I'm working on. I'll let you know as and when pieces go live!

If we were having having coffee, I'd tell you that I cannot wait to get my Invisalign off next Tuesday! I say this with the caveat that some people do refinements which means extra trays and while I'm 99% sure that will not be me because I hate these things, there is a nagging 1% of me that doesn't want it to be for naught. Honestly, I don't know if it's worked. I see some difference on the bottom but the issue I wanted to fix was on the top and while it's better, it's not perfect. My dentist also did too much IPR (shaving between teeth to accommodate for them moving) on the bottom and I now have a little gap between two teeth which I can't even talk about. If you're considering Invisalign, I'm not sure how I'd advise you.

If we were having coffee, I'd tell you that I have been discharged from PT and my MRI showed a perfectly healthy spine. It was so good the doctor was pointing out features to the med student in the room. Good job back. So what's been causing my pain? I have a loose sacroiliac joint. When your SIJ is out of whack it can mimic the pain of a herniated disc and/or sciatica so props to me for thinking these could be my issues because I actually wasn't wrong in terms of feel. All good news and hopefully I can keep it under control and keep the pain at bay. If you see me slouching or overarching my back, call me out immediately. Please!

If we were having coffee, I'd tell you that I'm oddly not that excited for my birthday on Sunday. It's a combination of things, which I may get into in another blog post, but I'll leave it at, I'm not where I thought I would be by the time I turned 31 and that is taking a toll. My freak-out about 30 was quelled by the fun of a big birthday and party and feeling so special but 31 is just meh. Does Baskin-Robbins even still have 31 flavors or have they cut some to a sexier, lesser number? This year hasn't exactly gone as planned and I'm working on learning and growing from that but right now it just feels like I want to let it pass. Still, it is the best day of the year so I will be doing a mini-celebration.

Time for me to get back to the grind. More on this past year, turning 31, and November favorites coming soon!

If we were having coffee, what would you tell me?
