MYTube: My Favorite YouTube Channels

I've toyed with writing this post for almost a year now. If you can be judged by the company you keep, than what do the things you watch when no one else is around say about you? Short answer: Everything. Still, I've decided to spill my guts and share the channels that more often than not, create content that I consistently enjoy watching.

Lifestyle: Lily Pebbles

Lily could be your best friend. She is honest, touches on everything from friendships to clothes, and her content never feels forced or like it was created just for views. Watch and tell me if you don't also want to meet her for coffee and become besties.

Career/Productivity/Life Tips: Amy Landino

Amy's channel is my newest YouTube discovery and I think it's one I'll be watching for a long time to come. With content that covers everything from how to have a more productive morning to breaking habits and overcoming self-doubt, Amy's videos are the tough love (but always with a smile) that we all could use more of.

Fashion: Shea Whitney

Search for fashion vloggers/bloggers and you'll find, well, a lot. When it comes to fashion, everyone has their own style. Not only does Shea's style generally feel pretty close to my own which isn't to say that I necessarily have a matching wardrobe or look half as put together all the time, but rather that of the fashion channels out there, the pieces she owns and outfits she puts together are generally all ones that I could see myself wearing. What's more, she offers advice and tips that are accessible and adaptable no matter your clothing preferences.

All basics and yet she looks ready for a photoshoot (and yes I know that this picture was posed and styled to be shared but still). Dear Shea, please pick out my clothes every morning. PC: @shea.whitney

ASMR: Lily Whispers ASMR & WhispersRed ASMR

Now for the most controversial two channels on this list. ASMR gets a bad rap. A lot of people don't understand it and as history has shown time and again, when we don't understand something, we tend to put it down. Here is a basic outline of ASMR (autonomous sensory meridian response) or "tingles." I think everyone experiences it differently, for me it's not a physical sensation, but rather a relaxation. When I was little I used to watch Bob Ross to relax and would often fall asleep (confession: I still watch him to relax/fall asleep sometimes). What I didn't know at age 7 is that what I was experiencing was ASMR. YouTube has a plethora of ASMR channels but of those I've explored, Lily Whispers and WhispersRed are my favorites. For me, it's not so much about what they're saying, in fact I couldn't tell you the content of about 99.9% of the videos I've "watched," which I put in quotes because I usually just listen and fall asleep before I'm more than a few minutes in. It's like the scene in Three Men and A Baby where Peter (Tom Selleck) questions what Jack (Ted Danson) is reading to Mary and Jack replies that it's about the tone; for me, anyone whispering or talking in a soothing voice will get me every time. RIP Bob Ross. I fully expect as least one, if not all of you will now think I'm nuts but there it is, the secret to how I fall asleep every night or calm down if I feel super stressed.

Lilli (diff from her channel spelling I know) is also a bunny mom. Bunnies are one of my favorites and I've always wanted one. PC: @lillianadee
